Think of leaving a satellite company for cable because of the price hikes? Think again.

If you have standard TV with one DVR box and nothing else, you bill will go up $6.75/mo.
All movie channel packages go up 2 bucks a month each. No word on HBO.

I just received notice at work of the price hike affecting Time Warner Cable subscribers in the Cincinnati area. Your mileage may vary:

Basic Cable Packages
Package - Old Price -- New Price -- change
Starter Tier - $24.99 - no change. (SEE FEES)
(Customers who were grandfathered at $16.99 will lose that price.)
Standard TV - $77.99 - $79.99 - +$2 (See FEES)
Variety Pass - $12.00 - $10.00 - -$2
Sports Pass - $8.99 - $10.00 - +$1.01
Movie Pass - $7.99 - $10.00 - +$2.01
Showtime, TMC, Cinemax, Starz - $12.99ea - $14.99ea - + $3ea
*HBO Not listed

Broadcast TV Surcharge (should be part of the PKG, but no. It's an extra charge) $2.75 - $3.75 -- + $1
Sports Programming Surcharge (Ditto) $2.75 - $5.00 - + $2.25

HD Cable Box DVR + Remote Fee - $11.25 - $11.75 +$ 0.50

"Digital Adapter" + Remote - $2.75 - $3.25 - + $0.50
Additional Outlet Fee -- $1.50 - $0.00 - - $1.50

they all suck and its not necessarily the package fee...its the BS fees they add on to make the bottom price "look good"

so lifeline is $25...oh wait
$3.75 "broadcast surcharge"
3.25 for a box that you are required to have

plus taxes and franchise fees....it gets out of hand

I'm happy that where I am moving to Comcast is part of the rent (all I have to do is get a Tivo card...standard box is included)

To be fair, a box is not required for lifeline service here....yet. And if you have a clear QAM tuner, you get HD locals and sub-channels. But I get and agree with your point.

My latest bill for my Internet said my internet was going from $34.99 to $59.99 a month, plus I pay $30 a month extra for the higher speed, as I can't stream anything on the slower speeds. That's a $25 price hike. I don't get how internet can be that expensive.

Also I'm having major issues with my speeds, it says I get the fastest in my area, which is 50 mpbs, but on speedtest.net I get only like 20-22 mbps. They're sending out a new router, but I wonder if it's their lines, or what it is, cause in the past 30 minutes its gone out 5 times.

Question about having just Internet and Home Phone through TWC?
