I have a few questions about TVersity.

Help me understand the differences between the Pro and Free version:

1. What is H.264 transcoding?

2. What is on the fly transcoding?

What are the other major differences not mentioned on their website...IOW, what are some specifics that the Pro can do that the Free cannot?

How does TVersity compare to Windows Media Center and Windows Live?

I have never used Tversity but can offer some explanation to transcoding.

Any consumer video, being it file or stream, is a compressed version of the original.
The process of video compression is called encoding. The opposite - decoding.
The conversion process from one compressed format into another - transcoding.

On the fly transcoding is done either to reduce the bitrate or to convert into a certain format.
Bitrate reduction most of the time means reduction in quality.

H.264 transcoding most likely means the output format should be AVC.

Diogen.

TVersity pro has hulu and other web sites like it. Transcoding on the fly is that it will transcode a file to view on either the hr, ps3 or xbox but it doesn't always work. Vob and mkv files wont work.
