I have a panny 37" plasma connected to TV-2 on my vip622. Great picture on the panny, but I can't seem to get the aspect under control---when I watch the HD channels, the screen is zoomed out.
The "HDNET" symbol is sqeezed out partially, so I know it's not right. Of course, I've got the screen to fill in on the 'Just' aspect, but to no avail.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I leave my Dell 4201c 42" Plasma set on "standard" and I let the 622 configure the output by using the format "button"

The 622 remembers what the last setting was for each channel individually, which I must add was a nice touch by the E* tech guys.

aspect

I'm in dual mode always---doesn't matter what I've got tv1 settings, does it?

Doesn't matter which aspect mode I'm in.

When you are on the second TV feed and you watch an HD channel make sure dish format is letterbox before you zoom.
I sometime watch from the first TV feed it look good because it’s already 16x9 it’s only 480i but you don’t have to zoom it.
I emailed Dish to see if they could also have an option for the second TV feed to have a 16x9 option. There are a lot 16x9 LCD TV’s out there and 4/3 are going away. I did not get a very good response. Maybe if more people contacted them?

got it

Thanks for the help, I got it right now. I have to say this forum is great because you guys make it that way.

Happy Holidays!

Recording DVD

I'm piggy-backing a new question on this thread because it's somewhat related to the original:

I'm wanting to make a SD-DVD recording of a HDTV program originally recorded on the 622. I'd prefer the recording to be letter-boxed on a 4:3 screen. So far the only way I've found to make this happen is to put the 622 in dual mode, and record off the TV2 RF ouput, with the output format set for letterbox.

Is there anyway to make this happen on TV1 in order to use the S-video output from the 622?

Nope! But you can use the composite output on TV2, not as good as S-video, but better than RF.
