Someone, please, PLEASE tell me there is a way to prevent someone from taking over my tuner and stopping my recordings. I will be forever grateful!!!
Lol it's FAMILY. Hopper is LR, Joey1 is MB, and Joey2 is me. If Joey1 and Joey2 are recording, when there's the overlap that takes all 3 tuners, LR decides they can't wait for one to clear and he will either stop my recording or turn my tv/joey off. It's rudeness and I'm trying to prevent a family brawlHow far are you from your neighbors?? Which receiver and which remote are we dealing with?
Oh, bummer. Thanks for the reply!Probably need a Hopper 3.
You can edit each timer to turn the Protect setting On. That way, a four-digit PIN would need to entered in order to delete the recording. This may also prevent them from stopping the recording in progress, if they don't know the PIN.Someone, please, PLEASE tell me there is a way to prevent someone from taking over my tuner and stopping my recordings. They are bordering on elderly... I was just hoping for an easy fix with no drama. Thanks for your input!!!I can see that you have an H1 or 2. You could fix this by upgrading to a H3 with 16 tuners.
But that is a technical fix for a family problem, and I don't know how you fix that. You can either confront your inconsiderate family, or upgrade to an H3.
OK, well, the H3 sounds like your ticket to no drama. You may be able to upgrade for $0, particularly if you call DIsh and tell them you are having big problems with only 3 tuners. They are bordering on elderly... I was just hoping for an easy fix with no drama. Thanks for your input!!!

No bummer about it. It's a better Hopper, faster, better picture and will solve all those recording issues you have. The other thing is, if you have the old 40.0 remotes wit the Red Blue Green Yellow buttons on them, they may be accidentally hitting the Record Button. I see it often on 722's and Hopper with that style remote.Oh, bummer. Thanks for the reply!
Yup, I was going to suggest the same thing. As it seems you may be a long term customer and they really want to proliferate the H3, you might just score a new one for free. But if they try to get to sign a new 2 year hard commitment for it, back off and call back someone else, or retention, later. There are new things coming down that line that I'm saving my 2 year retention perk for later.OK, well, the H3 sounds like your ticket to no drama. Yeah, that was my only hesitation about recommending an upgrade to the Hopper 3. If the Hopper+ accessory and the new Joey 4 models are going to be coming out any time reasonably soon, then you might as well wait until those are available, and do the entire upgrade all at once. If my earlier suggestion works (for the interrupted recordings problem anyway) then that may be a good stop-gap solution in the meantime, until Sharon068 is ready to do the upgrade.Yup, I was going to suggest the same thing. Guess it makes sense now why I've had the same Hopper 3 issues for several years. They never intended to fix those problems due to H4. Not sure I even want to stay on this journey to know if it's worth extending or notYeah, that was my only hesitation about recommending an upgrade to the Hopper 3. There is no H4 in the worksGuess it makes sense now why I've had the same Hopper 3 issues for several years. They never intended to fix those problems due to H4. Not sure I even want to stay on this journey to know if it's worth extending or not
Maybe just a Hopper Duo+. I'll start that rumor now, and see what comes of it.There is no H4 in the works
That should have said H+, unless that's only a myth as wellThere is no H4 in the works
H+ is Dish's gradual shift from Sat to Streaming. It isn't the replacement of the H3 as much the next step in their transition away from Sat.That should have said H+, unless that's only a myth as well
