Been playing with TSReader today and will be getting the full registered version as I think the streaming alone is worth the $99, but, that will have to wait until I get my T90 paid for!

Anyway, I was looking at AMC 4 101W, 11860-H-28138 and found some interesting PIDs in the PID list for that transponder.

They have several scrambled channels on there as shown on Lyngsat, and confirmed by TSReader. But, I was looking at the PIDS and noticed alot of them, way more than there should have been for the channels on that transponder shown in Lyngsat. So, I did a PID list. Found a few interesting ones as pasted below:

3390 ECM for system ID 0x0500 (1280) France Telecom for program 105
3345 ECM for system ID 0x0500 (1280) France Telecom for program 105
3370 ECM for system ID 0x0500 (1280) France Telecom for program 103
3360 ECM for system ID 0x0500 (1280) France Telecom for program 102
3350 ECM for system ID 0x0500 (1280) France Telecom for program 101
3310 ECM for system ID 0x0500 (1280) France Telecom for program 101
3340 ECM for system ID 0x0500 (1280) France Telecom for program 104
3380 ECM for system ID 0x0500 (1280) France Telecom for program 104
3330 ECM for system ID 0x0500 (1280) France Telecom for program 103
3320 ECM for system ID 0x0500 (1280) France Telecom for program 102

Are these electronic countermeasure packets being sent to keep the hacker crowd from illegally intercepting the programming like they do with DishNet?

I find it very interesting that there are things like that in the stream called ECM if it is really what I think it might be.

Anyone who is familiar with TSReader, please chime in and let me know if I'm right on this.

Rod is really a smart programmer, and I'm really loving this program. I'm so glad he has made a Lite version available for us to play with prior to purchasing!

Thanks Rod!

An ECM Packet is an entitlement control message (Part of the DVB conditional access system). When an authorized receiver decodes the packet it receives special keys (Control words) required to decode the encrypted pids.
