trying to control SC unit with universal remote

I am trying to get a SONY remote, model number RM-VL 600 to replace the standard star choice unit model number URC 441 and to control a MOTOROLA Hi Def. DSR 505 .

The SONY manual is listing 3009 as the code BUT for General Instrument units.

However this seems to be wrong. Any advise will be much appreciated.

AFAIK, there are no Motorola/General Instruments satellite receiver codes in any Sony TV remote.

FWIW, I have a Sony remote (RM-YD003) that I've used on maybe 5 occasions. I gave up a long time ago trying to get it to work with my DSR505. My SC remote is a URC-547. It does everything I need it to do with my TV & VCR, too.
