Hello,
Kind of specific to those who watch MLS Soccer, but anyway...
One of the problems with NBR and therefore "DishPass" is that the listings submitted by the channels suck. The channels don't want to make it easier for you to DVR and skip the commercials, so they have zero incentive to make the listings better.
When I tried to make a DishPass for "MLS Soccer", it would catch every repeat of FSC's weekly match, because the listings have no distinction between "new" and "repeat", no date, nothing other than the teams.
So, every week you have to remember to click on the upcoming timers for the events and set them to "Skip" - and I thought the whole point of NBR is to automate things so you have to less to do.
But, I came up with a solution ! No, you can't just set a manual timer because the game time changes every week, depending on the time zone of the home team. But, FSC only has a pre-game show and a post-game show for the first showing on Saturday. So, you need to set a DishPass for "MLS Pregame" with the option set to run 60 minutes late, and then set a DishPass for "MLS Postgame" with the option set to start 60 minutes early. (The simple way would have to be just use one, but the limit is 90 minutes, so that won't work). This will split it into two recordings, but the split should occur during half time.
Those with a 622 can get a separate DishPass for "MLS Soccer" that is "HD Only" and it will get the ESPN2-HD Thursday night match, and the HD-Net Saturday match (both of which also change start times from week to week). Those with a 522 or 625 can set a DishPass for "MLS Soccer" that is single-channel-only for 144 (although I have never owned either receiver, please tell me if "single channel only" for DishPass is only found on the 622).
