Digital video recorder maker TiVo unveiled plans Monday to allow its subscribers to download recorded shows to their Apple iPod or Sony PlayStation portable devices.
The announcement was expected ("TiVo-iPod Deal Trumps Disney," TelevisionWeek, Nov. 21). TiVo said it will begin testing the new feature in the coming weeks, with plans to make it available to all subscribers of its TiVo Series2 DVR by the first quarter of 2006. The product is being offered only to TiVo's standalone subscribers and not to those who received TiVo boxes through the company's relationship with DirecTV.
