Hi All,

My EDISION OS MIO 4K just arrived.
Another well packed item and fast delivery from Brian.
Looking forward to getting started. :)

John

John, read the setup post first, but let it warm up before powering. Edision OS mio 4K - OpenATV 6.2 First-time User Guide

Mine is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow. BUT, we are in the middle of an ice storm once again, which is supposed to go through the next few days. So hopefully that doesn't stop it. Though I'll likely let it warm up to room temp before adding power. I don't want to experience the "popcorn effect", lol.

Mike,

It hasn't been too cold here the past few days, with a mid winter thaw and temps 55-60. I might not even get to the set up tonight as much as I want to so no worries about the popcorn effect.
I definitely planned on reading Brian's set up post first, including making a copy of the Open ATV6.2 operating system.
Hope yours arrives tomorrow despite the icy forecast for your area.

John

John, I would recommend to make a back-up of the OpenATV image that we shipped, then flash the SatDreamGR image onto the STB. It is so much more user friendly and you will be much happier learning E2 with SatDreamGR. Give me a call once you have downloaded the SatDreamGR for Edision OS MIO 4K image from the SatDreamGR forum. I will help talk you through the simple 1 minute install using a blank FAT formatted USB thumbdrive.

Everyone.... :heartbeat:heartbeat:heartbeatA new image, specifically modded for North American mio 4K users will soon be released, once it is finalized and approved. Stay tuned for information and updates on this upcoming release! :heartbeat:heartbeat:heartbeat

How do you like them apples?

105w C-band Blind Scan - 2675 channels logged (TV: 239 / Radio: 2436) in 5 min. 18 sec. :biggrin
Thank you El Bandido for taking hardware blind scanning to the next level!

Thats pretty fast. Its also a lot of radio channels. Last time I tried listening to the radio channels most were silent. It would be great if there was a way it could flag the active channels.

There are some full time music radio channels there but the large majority of them are "Feed" channels used by the various radio networks to distribute syndicated programming and sports broadcast feeds. Those are a big interest of mine because around here we don't really have any news/sports talk stations on FM. All are AM and very difficult to pick up.

N6BY That is a great idea! Why not create an "active now" service filter plugin for the service list? Would be easy to identify and flag services running above xx kbps. This could be done during a service scan or likely more useful if performed while tuning a single transponder.

Join an image team and contribute to the open source project. :)

Just have EB add it yours Brian...

Just curious... anyone with a 1.2m Dish and a dual C-Band/KU LNB able to lock the C-Band radio services at 105w 4043V? It should scan in one entry DG something with a bunch of audio PIDs in it. I'd really be curious to hear from anyone on the east coast about this.

Titanium could you plz post a video of the Music Choice channels working want to see if the msg flashes. im sure you know what im talking about. thanks :)

I was able to scan in the NASA 4k mux on 101w last night, and it downrez's it to be shown on my 1080p tv set. I thought that was really cool! Also no issues with HEVC channels.

I'm still setting mine up with the latest SatdreamGR image, and so far have barely even scraped the tiniest bit off the surface of what this receiver appears to be able to do. I've stagnated far too long with the simplicity of "old-school" receivers, and I think this receiver is FINALLY "the ONE" I've been waiting for...

Not that it's really that much harder to set up than an older receiver, but just that it's different enough to make it a bit more challenging. It's kind of like an OLD Dos/Windows guy switching to a Mac cold-turkey.

I HIGHLY recommend that if anybody here is on the fence about whether or not you should get one, DON'T wait much longer, buy one! I used PayPal credit, and am going to pay it off with some of my tax return. PayPal credit gives you like 6 months FREE to pay it all off, with NO interest if that's done by the end. That's only $29~ a month. Brian will ship it FREE priority mail also.

The Music Choices channels on 125w play fine with video displaying Artist / Title and Trivia. No error messages are displayed. Not configured for capturing video at this time.
