Timers lost

My older Dish 508 receiver occasionally looses its timers and I have to reset them. Especially annoying for the weekly ones. I think it may be a software issue as that problem first occurred a few years ago when they changed from time slot recording to name recording (or whatever they call it). The problem finally went away for a few years but now it has returned. On one occasion, the timers were there when I clicked on timers, but not shown in the schedule when I clicked on that, and did not record.. On another occasion, when I unplugged the receiver for a while and then plugged it back in, the timers and schedule came back as if they had never gone away. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks.
