The Mets yet again today proved why they are still the babies in the NL East and are not interested in winning a division or even going back to the playoffs. You have a Pirates team decimated by trades and tired from an 11 game road trip which brought them through Chicago, Philly, etc.) and you let a 5-1 lead in the 7th slip away . . . oh yeah and as this is occurring Mina ya and the Mets watch Dunn go to Arizona and several pitchers clear waivers, yet Minaya and company stands their watching

Why do I continue to watch and hope this team will win???

Back to watch them lose now as bases are loaded in the 9th and we are playing rocks, papers and scissors in the bullpen to figure out who should pitch . . . at this point, put in Mr. Met!

Omar and the Mets organization deserves nothing but the worst the Baseball Gods can pour on them for the disgusting way they handled Randolph's departure. I will never support them because of that.

He was not the first and will not be the last; but you are correct, that is one of their problems. This organization has been mismanaged for a long time now and a big change is needed from top down!

Yeah KCKHalo is right. I didn't want Willie to be fired and they did a bad job with the way it was handled.
I don't think they should fire Minaya but I was going to post this as a topic but is there any bullpen help out there? Anyone? Anyone?

Unfortunately bullpen help is what all the contenders need , unless you're talking about the Angels and maybe the White Sox.

See that is where the problem lies Mets82 . . . we were fully aware last year we had no bullpen help and needed to get stronger. Unlike our crosstown rivals who in past years who just stack players, we sit by idly as other teams grow stronger and stronger. We have no farm system, our current staff is either too young or too old. The next few years will be very interesting and this loss today to the Pirates is indicative why we will miss the playoffs again!

Final score PIT 7 METS 5.

Maybe once they tear down that toilet called Shea and move into Citi their luck will turn around.

DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH!!!!!

When they went after Pedro you had to know their goals were not set too high. He will win you a few games but he's not a horse you can ride too far.

I'm not giving up hope but it's very frustrating. It wouldn't surprise me if they blow it but I'm looking positive.

I agree but who is out there. Marte was avaiable but he's been terrible with the Yankees. We could've gotten Arthur Rhodes but he's like Mel Rojas and Armando Benetiz. I don't know who's out there.

That's not for you and I to be aware of . . . I cannot think of someone off the top of my head, but today's loss better make them step up on the waiver line . .. I said it before and I will say it again . . . Freddy Garcia, Jarod Washburn, Francisco Cordero . . . oh wait, forget about that . .. it was reported by Gammons that Mets never even made a play for Livan Hernandez because they want to deal with things in house . . . well that's the white flag waving for them! Wow . . . so sad!

Well, your right but I don't want just anybody. I think Hernandez was decent enought that they should've made a huge play for him.
Washburn is having a lousy year. If the Mets got him would he have any success or would he be like he was in Seattle.
The best of the bunch is Freddy Garcia. I like his pedigree and he's ok enough to crank out some wins.
We really need bullpen help because this isn't helping. If you put your faith in Eddie Kunz, that's fine but that's a risk. We are thrusting this guy into a role right off the bat. Maybe he has it and maybe not.

Omar does get the blame but what about the Mets scouting department. WE HAVE NO FARM SYSTEM and haven't had one in years. There are teams with loads of prospects and we are lucky we have 2 and because of that we have nothing to give teams for trades.

That is one thing I will not blame on Minaya . . . Minaya adopted Philips' farm system . . . you know the GM who felt that it was better to trade away the whole farm system for a bag of peanuts and a new ballgirl for one of the outfield foul territories

I don't think it's Minaya's COMPLETE fault. I agree that the scouting PLUS ownership HAS to be accessed blame too. But let's not let the players off the hook either. I LOVE Carlos Beltran, but he has not been very good. Delgado......old. Marlins traded him at the right time. The ONLY players I see any significant value is David Wright and Jose Reyes. The rest EITHER had their best years behind or had a couple of great years and lived off of that.
I still think it's a 3 team race, but come next year....seeing that the Marlins will not lose anyone, unless the Mets do something in the off season, the favorites are the Phillies and the Marlins.

Bad sports-related predictions/guarantees you remember

Freddy Garcia signs with the Tigers
