I was never sold on the XStreamHD idea, but it's a little premature to move it to the SatGuys Archive. However, I think it will happen by the end of 2011. We shall see...

No way. They don't offer anything new now. You can get the same thing they were offering from many other sources now (that most of us already have in our houses) with much much lower upfront cost. This idea was great and if it actually came out 3 years ago they could have made some money and they could have evolved along with the industry. Now the industry has passed them by.

I certainly don't disagree...I'm just saying it's premature to move the Forum over the SatelliteGuys Archive, although I can hear Susan Boyle warming up in the background.

The forum will remain, it will be interesting to see what XStreamHD comes up with at CES this year to keep itself in the limelight.
They were ready to go and launch but then they found an issue in their receiver at FCC testing that could cause interference on some electronics devices. They wanted their product to be prefect so they elected to fix the problem.
The folks at XStreamHD are good people and we wish them nothing but the best and look forward to seeing what they have for us at CES.

None of the IPTV providers or boxes provide lossless sound...
That's not exactly something that Joe Sixpack is typically going to care about. More and more of them are starting to have Dolby Digital and in some cases Dolby Digital Plus available as a streaming solution. You can only be the limelight of CES for so long without a product that's actually in the sales channels.

Try this again... +1 Another fad Like Apple TV, we don't need another box in the stack when we can get most of the things it does on existing boxes.
I was interested when first heard about it, however many years its been now. Even though didn't like the monthly charge just for the right to have the service. I really have a problem believing the hold up all this time is because of problems with the FCC and their receivers. Plus they only have one movie studio signed so far. I am wondering how many more trade shows will they go to before actually having something that works.
non of those are lossless but it really doesn't matter. If your business plan depends on attracting subs who want this type of service and want it lossless and want to pay two different fees for it (one for the service and one when to watch a movie) then its a pretty bad plan. Laughable from the begining IMO.

Although this is true. How many blurays can you rent for the cost of this nonsense? Personally I don't hear that much difference between the lossless codecs and the other.
i don't think most people see and hear well enough to use much better resolution than what we get. i know when i catch a c band masterfeed in the clear unencrypted the HD will blow away anything cable or small dish can provide.
