If you log onto ESPN's site or hear any talk of the NFL yesterday, the first Jet you'd probably see or hear about would be the almighty ex-Cheeshead himself. (I'm not saying his name anymore btw in protest. I think we all had enough already).

Anyways, a sad thing happened during last night Browns/Jets game that you probably haven't heard about until now....

CLEVELAND (AP) — New York Jets tight end A.J. Schable was taken from the field on a stretcher and hospitalized Thursday night after a head-to-head hit in a preseason game against the Cleveland Browns.

The Jets were awaiting results of tests, but early reports from the hospital were positive.

Coach Eric Mangini says he encouraged that Schable has movement in his arms and legs.

Schable is in his second season with the Jets. He was knocked backward by Cleveland offensive lineman Cliff Louis while trying to make a tackle on a kickoff return. He remained curled up on the field until trainers turned him on his back, then placed him on a stretcher.

The Jets team went on the field as Schable was immobilized and carted away with 12 minutes remaining in the game. Schable gave a thumbs-up as he was being wheeled off the field.
--Football is a violent sport and things like this are bound to happen, but you just hate to see it. The stadium was silent and most (I will elaborate on that in my next post), stood around Schable in support and in prayer. Best wishes in a full recovery goes out to Schable. I hope like hell he's allright!

Thank goodness he had movement.

Upon hearing this, I was worried this could be another Kevin Everett, Dennis Byrd, or Mike Utley scenario.

Oh, onto a REAL classless act that was reported during the Schable injury by fans attending the game last night (from local Browns forum)....

There was some thing I saw last night at the game that probably didn't make TV but really kinda upset me. When the Jets' player got hurt late in the game and every other Jet player was gathered on one knee and (almost) all of the Browns were as well, Farve was talking to a coach about drop backs and arm delivery angles. I know he doesn't know the guy who got hurt and has a lot of ground to make up learning a new offense, but still...
I was JUST about to type this. I was in row 2 section 108--right behind Jets bench. I was APPALLED watching Brett Farve with 2-3 coaches talking and going through quarterback motions as the entire rest of the team was circling aound the injured player. I have pictures to prove it!! Let me figure how to post them
I was there in 110 and saw them same thing. It was classless. With Bret Favre, of the New York Bretts, it's all about "Me, me, me, me ,me"! This dude doesn't have a clue, he is self absorbed. The injured player took a helmet to helmet hit, was motionless on the field, and there was a question whether this man would ever walk again. And there is Lord Brett, laughing and joking with the coaches, doing mini run throughs of drop backs and arm angles, the entire team was in a semi-circle around the injured player, most praying and thanking God it was not them. Not Farve, there is no Brett in "T-E-A-M"!
I was there and noticed the same thing. The guy could have had a broken neck. I know Brett is in super catch-up mode, but he can give the guy, and the football gods, 5 minutes of respect. I am a big Brett fan and love his game. I was amazed that he did this.

Here's the picture of Favre while the rest of the team is showing true compassion....

I dont see Favre in the first picture. If you have something from a local Jets forum I might believe it. Even so, BFD. If he got down on a knee people would object to that somehow too. getting on his knees isnt going to change that guys condition anyway.

I guess Browns fans have to have something to talk about since their team stinks so badly.

They lost a freaking pre-season game, vurbano. PRESEASON!

Last year, the Patriots had a 2-2 preseason record and came within a minute of a perfect season.

PRESEASON!

I could care less if my Sabres lost preseason NHL games!

Besides, the Browns are a team of the future; the Jets are relying on a geezer of the past.

Get a life!!! Are you always this bitter??? If HD MM says he didn't see Favre anywhere near the group praying, guess what??? I believe him. If you don't, that's your problem!!!

"Good"????

You always show respect to an injured teammate. Period.

Everything else involved is irrelevant when one of your boys is being carried off the field on a stretcher. Favre dropped the ball big time IMO. I just thought his lack of compassion was a bit surprising. Everyone else at the stadium was silent. Then there was Favre, going about his business like nothing else is going on.

I'm sorry but I just don't see the big deal about Favre. He wasn't joking around, laughing, or making fun of anyone. He was just talking to a coach. I don't see that as disrespect.

Thats because you are not a child hell bent on trashing a legend.
