11 to 15 mbit/sec feeds! I do hope they eventually change the definition of streaming to allow 60 seconds of buffering. Even the fastest internet will glitch every now and then.
Comcast just announced service to 50Mbs now for there service areas. I doubt 75%of homes are without cable TV. Most homes are in metro areas and have cable service. If you live in the extreme rural areas where satellite internet is all you can get, then that bandwidth will be quite limited for any Internet TV use.
I give satellite TV another year before it is no longer competitive with Internet TV at my house. Dish keeps increasing prices and other services keep expanding for very low cost. Even DVR is becoming obsolete except for local broadcast and then I can just do an OTA TiVo.

Spoke to Comcast rep about bandwidth caps. No longer for all home accounts, only speed tiers. For 4k UHD they recommend having the 50 Mbs tier account for no buffering, although, the 25 Mbs will work.
I'm paying for 50/25 but regularly test above that. Still not interested. Not gonna replace TV and AV receiver for "UHD."

Why couldn't you use your TV and AVR with Netflix. I do it all the time from my Apple TV. They have been streaming Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 for a couple years now so an AVR is actually pretty nice for Netflix.

To get the 4k Netflix you will need to buy a tv with the imbedded Netflix app that will do 4k. A new tv is a must to achieve this......for now anyway.
Ok I get what he's saying now. I knew it wouldn't be available for older devices that don't support 4K like the Apple TV and Roku but I didn't realize it was only for smart TVs at this point. I'm sure that is only temporary though. You can bet that once Netflix 4K comes out a 4K Roku and other 4K streaming devices won't be far behind.
