Thinking of getting DirectTV - Help please?!!

I am in Canada, just across from the ND border. I am looking at getting DirectTV HD PVR with Genie and wireless. Can anyone tell me if all this works in Canada?? I am specifically wondering about internet and worried about IP address.

Ok,
Yes you can, however, I doubt that you'll be able to get a Genie, seeing they require a truck roll to put a genie in and they won't do that.
I would not connect the internet (thats just me) you do what you want ...

Technically, D* in Canada is Not available, that doesn't mean the signal stops at the boarder, thats said, it doesn't go much farther, if your truely just over the boarder.

Hopefully you have a US address as well.
If so, I would do your own set up after authorizing your recvr at your US home.

As Jimbo noted, you would have issues getting a Genie as a new install.

She will have issues getting ANY D* service if she doesn't have a US address as well.
