I'm currently a Dish Network customer
my contract will be up shortly and am seriously thinking about direct tv

anybody know how away "on avg" the Direct tv dish will be located
from my current Dish Network 500 dish relative to sat spacing?

I am going to be running new feeds for the dish 500 tomorrow and need to know how much I should leave wraped up in case I need to reach a direct tv dish?

1: What’s my best option for a 4 tv setup would it be in the same cost ballpark as Dish?

2: Any one know about first time deals out there, the NFL package sound goods (IS IT POSSIBLE WITHOUT ALL THAT HD UPGRADES AND SUCH)
if not just something like the 200 plus dish package MSNBC ETC

3: Do you lease or buy the Direct TV Receivers

4: HOW IS THE CUSTOMER SERVICE?

5: Any opinions between local and Direct TV contracts I should know about
like could I get a better deal locally for it?

Other then the initial install, i will be doing any future repair if ever needed myself period, so I do not need any protection plan.

Thanks

from my current Dish Network 500 dish relative to sat spacing? D* uses the 110 & the 119 also, but adds a third sat in the 101. Check about 15 degrees to the east of where your current dish is pointed to make sure there are no obstructions. A lot of techs will use the same pole that your E* dish is mounted on to eliminate the need to drill extra holes to mount a new bracket.

I am going to be running new feeds for the dish 500 tomorrow and need to know how much I should leave wraped up in case I need to reach a direct tv dish? A few extra feet never hurt

1: What’s my best option for a 4 tv setup would it be in the same cost ballpark as Dish? This depends upon if you ever plan on adding DVR service. If you do, run 2 lines to each room where you may ever want a DVR to save yourself some hassle later. With D*, you can get a 4 room standard install for free.

2: Any one know about first time deals out there, the NFL package sound goods (IS IT POSSIBLE WITHOUT ALL THAT HD UPGRADES AND SUCH)
if not just something like the 200 plus dish package MSNBC ETC Yes, you can get the NFL package for added on to any base package D* offers. I believe the current promotion is the 185 channel Plus package with HBO & Cinemax free for three months for $49.95/month

3: Do you lease or buy the Direct TV Receivers - Lease, even the ones bought in the store

4: HOW IS THE CUSTOMER SERVICE? Depends upon who you ask. For me, D* has had much better customer service than E* ever did (and that was even before I became a HSP)

5: Any opinions between local and Direct TV contracts I should know about
like could I get a better deal locally for it? The only way you'll get a better deal locally is if the local company is going to eat the difference between what they offer you and D* offers. This is not a likely option

Other then the initial install, i will be doing any future repair if ever needed myself period, so I do not need any protection plan.

Thanks

My responses are in bold. Hope this helps.

Personally, I would wait until the 3rd or 4th quarter before committing to directv. Whether or not they meet their promises of dozens of new hd channels will be a critical development in terms of how they compare to the other providers. Unless you don't care about hd at all.

Thanks Questioner not really into HD

iwc5893 when you say pole is that my Dish Net mast
the dish is mounted to (because that would be great!!!!)

I do not use dvr's or such but have dual recievers in two roooms
one line coming in and going out to a uhf remoted tv

the reason why I'm running a new feed for an existing dish is that I need to ground THE DISH SYSTEM and replace the cable run after they split off which was damaged by what looks like really deep stapling during install, and to replace a bad LNB, that LNB switch is giving 0 ss for 110 and around 55=60 ss for 119

Last question
Does The direct tv setup entail 4 recievers or two

Thanks
