Ok I'm a directv subscriber and with the loss of the Viacom channels thinking about a return to dish my ? Is does anybody know when there contract is up with Viacom. I know there in negotions with the amc channels which looks like every cable and satellite company Is going through this kind of stuff today. I never thought directv would actually drop these channels. I can never remember a time when they have dropped main channels like these. Also a ? For the dirt team how long do u have to be away from dish to get new promotions? Also if I went back to dish and did not take the promotion deal could I get the dish America packs that's no longer listed.

It is 60 days after cancelling before you may be eligible for new customer promotions. DISH America is available but you would not receive any promotional credits.

I would not switch based on these disputes unless you feel those channels are 1. Watched often enough to really matter, and 2. You don't think they will back anytime soon. If you have other reasons to switch, go for it.
Don't forget that Direct did not drop those channels, Viacom removed them. From what I've read Direct is not really at fault.

DirecTV refused to pay the asking price. Viacom removed them. It's not right to blame one more than the other.
sorry. Viacom pulled them before they should have...Directv wanted to keep them on while they negotiated and Viacrap pulled them earlier than they agreed on
Yeah, long list. But I only watch Comedy Central and that only rarely. Might mean more to others. Perhaps DirecTV wants to just carry fewer channels and Viacom wants as much bandwidth and presence possible, even if it means some/much of it is of little general interest.

I wonder if D* figured the viewership figures were low enough to make such a firm stand worthwhile? I guess we'll see. If a couple of weeks pass without their return, then we'll know they were serious.
Viacrap pulled the channels off Directv....they didnt even wait til Midnight to pull them (eastern time)..they abruptly yanked the feeds at 11:48.
also love how Viacrap is counting HD channels separate from SD
