The Wire in HD for first minute and then SD for the rest?

I have noticed that The Wire this season is in HD for the first 60 seconds while they are showing "Previously on The Wire" but when the actual show starts it switches to SD. Why the heck would HBO do this?

Are you watching this on the HD channel? or the SD version. Also, how are your sets hooked up and is DRM an issue for you all. Meaning is your set DRM capable.
