Don't see that happening anytime soon ....
otoh, Iv'e have heard talk about them making it so you have to score 6 points to WIN in OT.
Meaning, you have to score a TD or two FG's so in that theory, both teams would have possession, unless they give up a TD on the first drive.
I dont get why they havent yet
in basketball it isnt the 1st team to score wins
in baseball if a team scores in the top of the 10th the game isnt over
hockey is moot as 1st one who scores does win but both teams in almost every case controls the puck at least once

I looked up some info on Hartley.
He's played 2 years now, played college ball at Oklahoma (so he probably didn't kick to many FG's there either)
Anyways.
He's played 2 years in the Pros and has been pretty darn good.
22 of 24 FG with a long of 47
Made 37 of 38 xpt's
This year he's only been asked to kick 13 times
The offense is quite impressive incase you haven't seen it.

Thoughts on Conference Championship Sunday:
1. The Jets-Colts matchup was a case of seeing something that is very rare-great offense beating great defense. It's been the other way around many times.
2. Braylon Edwards' long TD run will make for some interesting chatter between HD and Sandra
3. Indy ran the ball way better than they did last week- and this was against the NFL's best run defense. The Jets never seemed to control the game the way they did in Cincy against San Diego.
4. Remember how Kaeding and Graham missed those FG's against the J-E-T-S? Well, unlike them, Matt Stover is a clutch playoff kicker- 43-yarder to beat Tennessee last January- and has a Super Bowl ring. On the other side, Feely missed twice- though they were not easy kicks, to be fair. Still, an interesting role reversal after what happened in San Diego last week.
5. The NFC Title game lived up to all the hype and then some. Two titans battling in out in a high-scoring game of big plays, big-time performances, and some sloppiness mixed in.
6. Minnesota should have kicked the FG on third down late in regulation. That was the real mistake- not the Favre INT.

Gotta love the NFL for deciding the Super Bowl on a coin toss.
But congrats to the Saints...been a long time coming (believe me, I know). And congrats to Favre as well for ignoring the haters and having one hell of a season.
Colts-Saints will be a fascinating Super Bowl matchup.

The Vikings had 6 fumbles, this game should have been over long ago had the Vikes D not played so well.
otoh, with 6 fumbles they don't deserve to win.

I wouldn't complain to badly, Vike's should have won it in regulation and would have had they not turned it over on fumbles 6 times.
The OT rules did not do them in.
I will be happy with EITHER team winning as long as it's a well played game.

Not really, the ball was on the 38 after the "too many men" penalty and that would make it a 54-55 yard attempt. Even before that penalty it would have been too far. They needed to try to get a few more yards...
While the Vikings didn't do themselves any favors by putting the ball on the ground, the Refs didn't either.
And no, this won't be a facinating Super Bowl. The Saints couldn't beat the Vikings with how many turnovers?
All in all, the NFL is headed to a disaster if they don't get things worked out with the players. Maybe they need this reality check like Baseball. Go ahead. Strike. I dare you.
