I finally got hooked in to Disney+ for Christmas, a much better value than Netflix for our household. So I was finally able to start and complete both seasons of “The Mandalorian”. I did screw up by accessing Twitter which had blown the Season 2 Finale surprise.
The little comic bits that were tossed in from time to time were great like the two speeder stormtroopers who were trying some target practice and were never able to hit the thing they were aiming at. And for the geek in me who likes the behind the scenes nuts and bolts, check out the series on The Volume, basically a room with LED screen walls and ceiling that is parallax-corrected to the camera so the actors are playing to what they see, not a blue tennis ball on a stick. Plus, Mando’s shiny armor can reflect the environment and actually shows events that are out of frame, selling the whole story.
Overall, I’m glad I watched this, but underneath, I guess I’m more of a Star Trek fan. I’ll watch the new Boba Fett series, sure, and I have the Clone Wars episodes to start on. But my vacation is almost over, and I’ll have less time to watch for a while.
