To set up the story: We live in the country with a ton of oak trees, a Dish customer for 9 years. Dish is mounted on a OTA mast. Our 6000 receiver is slowly dying, so lets do the HD upgrade.
1- After (5) attempts to get an understandable CSR we sign up and get an install date of Sept. 11th---12p to 5p. First Installer arrives at 4:30p on a very hot and humid day. He then proceeds to check out the area, does not care for tower mount, but does climb it, takes his readings and says it's a no go. South lot line is to far from house, strange, its closer than the neighbors. He likes the LOS from the end of the driveway which faces West, but we have several Oak tree branches that are in the way and need to be cut back. We can not trim Oak trees till Sept 24th, because of Oak wilt which can kill the trees. So we cancel the deal with Dish. We got the felling that the installer really did not want to work on this hot and humid day. Tree trim was at a cost of $265, half was work we needed to do anyway.
2- The trees are trimmed on Sept. 24th, call the Dish contractor to come out and check the LOS, which they had said they would do. Second installer came out an liked the LOS from the end of the driveway. This location is close to the street (this is the land of smashed mail boxes). We decide to call Dish and go ahead with the project. After (3) CSR's we are given an install date of Oct. 3rd from 8am to 12 noon.
3- Third installer shows Oct. 3rd at 10am looks around and decides that the antenna mast is the number one place to mount the dish. Does not like the placement of the dish close to the road, was afraid it would vandalized. So he proceeds to mount it on the tower mast with no problems at all. Signals are all fine.
The 622 receiver is running fine and we are happy with the install, although it sure was a long way around to just lite up a TV.
Three different installers with different opinions on how the job should be done, install by committee.
