The Flash

The review in my paper was right on when they said it was pretty good but corny.

Definitely a goofiness to this first episode, reminding me of the first Tobey Maguire Spider-man movie when he first discovered his powers. It'll be interesting to see where it goes from here. I'd like to see the tone a bit darker like the Arrow. Since this show is basically an Arrow spinoff, I expected the tone to be the same. We'll see.

From what I've read, this show is supposed to be more lighthearted and fun than Arrow. I don't think we'll see the darker tone.

I liked it. I liked the guy who plays Flash and I love that they used the original tv Flash from the 90s as his dad. Cool way to show history. I already like this show better than Arrow. The Arrow is too dark at times.

"Fastest Man Alive":
Barry experiences a setback while pursuing robbers; Joe is upset with Barry for taking the law into his own hands; Iris becomes more intrigued by the ``red streak.''

I like that they cut down on the narration in the second episode. I know it will take a few episodes before the show stops having to explain itself. I watch via iTunes because of the SD CW in my area. The production seems first rate, great clarity and detail in the scenes, I like how they are not trying to make it dirty/gritty.

Agreed. I am tired of the dark gritty look of most of these DC comic shows lately. This show is more like Smallville .

Two episodes is way to early for me to make a real judgement but so far I like Arrow much better. I think both shows are pretty good though. I really like what CW is doing right now.

That genius made me wonder if it was Barry Allen from the future, coming back to help create his super power in the first place. After all he looks enough like Barry ,like an older version. Plus he has papers from 2024 saying the Flash is missing . But I don't think that it will turn out that way. Either way the genius is up to no good from what I've seen the last 3 weeks. He killed someone last episode.

I was thinking that Wells secretly used the accelerator to look into the future. But, perhaps he is from the future? I do not think that it is a future Barry Allen though.

Either way he seems to have wanted to help create the Flash. He even looked at a tape of when the accelerator blew up so he could see what Barry was doing and how he was transformed. He is definitely connected to the future and the Flash in that time.

Even though this is getting a little too "meta-human of the week" for me, I do like to see the longer-term story arcs being built up week to week. In that way, this reminds me of how Arrow started first season, as he was knocking off people who had "failed Starling City" while we got more back story and the groundwork for longer-range plotlines was laid. I wasn't really sold on Arrow until the last several episodes of that first season.
