The Blacklist

I can't get a real handle on this show and can't really put down words as to why. I think maybe it's because there is not one character I really LIKE. They all have such dark/negative baggage or attitudes that prevents any endearment on my part. I much prefer Hostages...which admittedly puts me in the major minority. Oh well!

Unlike other tough on the outside but vulnerable inside heroines, Elizabeth is just not very likable so it's hard to feel much empathy for her. Conversely, I love Spader's character; I feel his pain...even when he kills people. :)

Really good show. I still think the husband is some sort of spy/hitman.

And in the last episode those guys doing the surveillance on Liz and husband said something like : one thing´s for sure he doesn´t work for Red...

Anyway, I was more confused after watching this last episode because first I though he was guilty of that murder in Boston ? and then it turned out that he was framed....

Going to go on a limb here and say the husband is a Red employee (spy and/or assasin) who's assignment is to keep Liz safe at all costs.

More puzzling to me than the husband is Redd's relationship with Liz. There's obviously a connection there. At least on Redd's part. I know he mentioned her dad but it seems there's more to it than that.

He is her father? Uncle? Family friend? Who knows at this point, but I like the show.

Yep, about 2 episodes ago, when Liz asked him something like what´s your interest or obsession with me ? Red said "it has to do with your father"... whatever that means.

"Frederick Barnes": The FBI searches for the man responsible for a chemical attack on a subway; Liz wants to avoid Red after he implicated Tom.

I saw positive comments about this series in other threads.
So just now, I read this thread from the beginning.
Those who keep posting (and the ratings) make a good argument for trying the show.
Sounds a little convoluted, but I may have to give it a try.
Thank you. :)

If you watched this in NY you missed a lot, in fact probably the tri-state area. All because a gun who just killed himself.

So apparently more (puzzling ?) clues last night, with Red telling Liz he´s there to answer questions she hasn´t even thought about, and Red visiting his old home, and reminiscing about that little girl.....

Not sure if you saw the previews for next week but it looks like we get some answers about "father, daughter"

Watching again first episode, we learned that:

Red was on the navy in his way to become an admiral, on Christmas 1990 he was to visit his wife and daughter but he never arrived, it was implied he never went back to his home and family.

Red told Liz, that she was abandoned by her career criminal father, and that her mother died in shame. Liz acknowledged that info was real. The FBI guy said that info about her father never came up in her background check.

Now that Red was visiting his old house, he envisioned a little girl there, I´d assume her daughter.

Now revisiting those clues, I´m not so sure that Liz is Red´s daughter, maybe it´s more complicated than that, and we still don´t know who was the woman, or was that a girl ? in the pic that Red took, back in The Stewmaker episode. As riffjim4069 pointed out, that photo had the date 12/90. That´s the Christmas that Red was supposed to go back to his family and never got there.
