The 2006 Daytona 500

They need to bring back the whickers on the top of the cars and spoilers. That provided the bast racing ever when they did that and there is a lot more passing so that makes for less bump drafting.
It was good for us as fans, but I'm not sure the drivers cared for it that much. Yes you could go from 30th to the front in 2 laps, but that also meant 30+ cars were all in one bunch.

On a different note, did anyone else hear Tony Stewart's interview after the Shootout. He basically said they way everyone is bumping and driving that someone is going to die and that he hopes he isn't around when it happens.

Stewart looked visibly shaken after the race, I've seen him mad on many occasions but I can't ever recall seeing him shaken up like that. Contrast that with JR who popped in during Stewart's interview and was grinning from ear to ear, he just basically shrugged the whole thing off.

The drivers really don't have a spokes person anymore. Earnhardt Sr. was the last one and no one has stepped up to take his place. I would love to see Daytona and Talladega become "retro races" with body designs from the 60's and 70's and modern suspension and safety equipment.

Being a Rusty fan sine 1988 I am in a pickle. The wife is a big Jeff Gordon fan and I am leanning towards JJ as he is a classy well spoken guy(one of the resons I liked rusty). Glad to see rusty get the TV deal and more glad to see DW leaving, Every time Ihad to hear boggity bogitty my IQ dropped 10 points!!!

I cant stand Tony Stweat (he was cool in his IRL days) but the last several times I talked to him he was a total @sshole! I also do not like Mark Martin because when he wins he makes a big deal about his Son and doe not even mention his daughter (she is adopted from what i have heard) and it has to make her feel bad. SHAME ON MARK FOR THAT. JAYSKI is the place for Nascar news.

Yes MILLER is staying with the 2 car but dont expect much out of ANY Dodge this year. Except Newman in quly.

I guess I will look at Nascar like I had Formula One since my fav driver retired there and just root for the sport.

80% Formula One fan - 15% NASCAR - 5% WRC (poor tv coverage, but AWSOME racing, these buys have real guts)

He modified the rear window to raise up after inspection to provide better aero. It was caught during post-qualifying inspection. Its one thing to exploit gray areas of the rules, like Chad did with the shocks last fall and NASCAR even wrote a rule against it after the fact, but what he did this time was blatantly against the rules.

He got caught and will be fined heavily. Maybe suspended for a few more races.

It seems like he added some clamps to the panyard bar so that when it was raised (legal adjustment after inspection) it would also raise the rear window glass. Very ingenious, got to give him that.

That is true. But I don't remember the drivers bump drafting in the corners when they had that set-up. I also don't remember them complaining much. Just watch the trucks race there and see how awesome a race that is when they punch a bigger hole in the air. You can't bump draft because you are going to fast so passing or brake is your only options.

Very rarely did you ever see anyone bump drafting in the corners, till the newest of the young guys got here...

The vets never bumped in the corners....
Hopefully the young kids will learn quickly, before someone gets seriously hurt.

Stewart should have been disqualified. His move on Matt was blatant retaliation that could have killed someone. He drove him off the FKN track for gods sake. And just now on ESPN2 they showed another interview with stewart. O yes his story has changed from admitted payback to I thpought I was clear??? He's trying to avoid further penalties. Bumping is racing, running someone off the track is something entirely different. The chubby whiney a$$ Pu$$y needs to stop acting like a 1st grader and grow up. But Oh isnt that what we said 2 years ago??
