I have recently purchased a Fortec Star-Mercury II FTA receiver. It has a terrestrial antenna "in" jack on the back. If I run my terrestrial antenna through this jack, then to my TV, will it result in my TV being able to receive the digital terrestrial broadcasts scheduled to start this February?

You will still need a tv with a digital tuner, or a digital converter box. The Fortec does not have a digital tuner, I think it just "passes through" your OTA signal.

typical hookup diagrams

In the days of Analog TV, with an Analog TV Receiver:

Television
tuned to ---------- FTA Receiver ---------- Antenna
Channel 3

This also works today for a new Digital TV.

In the days of Digital TV, with an Analog TV receiver and DTV Converter box:

Television
tuned to ---------- FTA Receiver ---------- DTV box ---------- Antenna
Channel 3

Alternate hookup, for better picture
:

Television ---------- (RCA cable) ---------- FTA Receiver

Television ---------- (RCA Cable) ---------- FTA Receiver

Television ---------- (RCA Cable) ---------- FTA Receiver
|
| ---------- DTV Converter ---------- Antenna
