Telemundo Puerto Rico Going Off the Air

Telemundo Puerto Rico is a Puerto Rican channel owned by Telemundo and is broadcast only in the continental US. Effective January 2, 2008 it is closing its doors and will no longer be broadcast through any pay TV service provider. The Telemundo Puerto Rico channel was offered in all the DishLATINO packages on channel 837. DishLATINO will continue to offer alternatives such as Mun2 (Channel 838), Telemundo East (Channel 835), and Telemundo West (channel 836), where like programming will be available. Additionally, customers can tune into channels such as Telefutura (Channels 830 and 831) and Univision (Channels 827 and 828) for movies that were broadcast on Telemundo Puerto Rico.

Customers will see the following on-screen message, “On January 2, 2008 (12 a.m. EST), Telemundo will cease its transmission of the Telemundo Puerto Rico service available on this channel,” informing them of the closure.

Telemundo Puerto Rico the local chanel 2 (WKAQ) is not signing off the air. The NATIONAL version of Telemundo Puerto Rico is is ceasing operations.
