PocketDISH Updates:

Record link will link PocketDISH with a standard receiver such as a 311 or a 301 it will become a pvr device!
Hooks to RCA (composite) jacks… Settop box will control the PocketDISH…
PocketDISH currently works with the 942 or 622 Receivers via 2.0 USB (takes about 5 minutes to transfer an hour program)
Now it will work with the DISH Player-DVR522 and 625 via 1.0 USB (:30 minutes to transfer an hour program)software will rollout to these receivers the first week of March…

Questions…Martin: FCC requiring all must carry by dish by May and he wants to upgrade to a dual tuner dvr but wants to wait for must carry so he can dish at same time… ( silence) short answer FCC deadline …tech problems

Jodie: I have a 510 and it records differently from my 942?… name base recording on 942 will adjust for time differences ( program extended) the 510 will not…that difference will go away when we roll out Name Based a little later in the Spring.
Phone Question: Jason: DISHnetwork broadband status? Not really sure, working on , too early to talk about
Steve: On local Channel mapdown options what is HD priority? If you select HD locals they will take precedence.

Contest Line not working…

What is status of 100 on 921 Receiver? They do not support Mosaic yet… not sure, get a 622 (Dan Minnick)
John: When are the SD 121 locals going to be switched to the 119 Satellite… (Silence) When Echo 10 Launchs and deploys (June 1st timeframe) they will be migrated.
Kandy: I just got a 211 and a DISH 1000 why is my 129 signal 80% and 119/110 are 100% tech put up a second single dish that is not tuned right… 129 from Pittsburgh is a low look, tech must have had issues…80% is not a bad signal from there…

More Questions:
Phone Call from Tim: I have a archos G mini 400 series, it looks like the PocketDISH … will it work with the 622? No, we encrypt and have a chip in the PocketDISH. NO
Tom: I have a 921, it is my understanding I have to wait till may for the $99 upgrade to the 622… will I have to turn in my 921? OR Can I pay $299 and upgrade to the 622? If you pay the $299.99 we will not require the 921 to be returned… addition question if the 622 lease are there any issues? If you lease for a low upfront cost you get a very expensive product.
(Tom again) Will my current switches support the 622? Yes

Pushing the Digital Home Protection Plan

Apatl on a ViP 622 is there a monthly fee for the recording feature? Yes dvr fee $5.98 and Do you need 2 dishes for SD and HD? Yes probably. ViP Rebate Offer
. Swap Your Existing 921/942 Receiver for a ViP Series HD/DVR for Just $99.99
($200 Rebate Off Our Current Price of $299.99)
. Rebate Offer Begins On April 1, 2006
* Swap, means return of existing receiver

Not sure if you wanted to make the above clarifications - your call
The rebate was only valid for 921/942 receivers.

Will be migrated to 119? I thought it was going to be migrated to 110? So I assume that around the June timeframe Dish Network will start swapping out some markets from a SuperDish to a Dish1000? Or maybe they will just have an upgrade kit for the SuperDish to make it a Dish1000 using the same reflector and switch to save money.

This would be big news to some around here. You sure about this?

What's big news?

The $200 rebate is only for the 921/942 as it's been all along.

If you think the 811 is elgible too, it's not so no news there

As posted in two of the other threads on the rebate, there is an email sent by Marc Lumpkin of Echostar that stated the 811 was eligible for the rebate. So I think that got some hopes up.

This announcement appears to dash those hopes.

Not me (622 install already set up for 2/22). I have been saying this from the start. But many CSRs are telling people the rebate is for "all HD customers" and I had a CSR specifically tell me the 811 leasers would get the rebate if you just wait till April 1st. There are several threads on this here and a lot of confusion. Some people are holding off on putting in their orders for the 622 because they think that come April 1st, their 811 is going to = $200.

Not wanting to turn in my 924, I just called in and ordered the 622 at $299...

Funny thing... the adv tech could not give me an install date... She searched out to October and said nothing was available for my hub...

We both had a good laugh, because she was really getting frustrated... She said she had not seen anything like this in 5 years. Asked which receiver, she said it was the 811.

She asked me to call in tomorrow to try to get the install resolved. CC already charged.

It was just a generic answer. He didn't mentioned the 811 explicitly.

The person who wrote to Lumpkin stated that he had an 811 and a 311. Lumpkin replied and told him to wait until after April 1, when he would be eligible for the $200 rebate.

And to the person who asked Scott to end the confusion about the 811 & rebate, Dish did just that during the chat tonight. They stated specifically that the 811 was not eligible.

So which is it, do the 811's get the rebate or not!

The woman from Marketing emphasized during the chat that the rebate was only good for DVR owners. The 811 does NOT qualify for the rebate.

Any discussion regarding the availability of the VIP222 or timing of San Francisco Locals in HD?

No mention was made of the ViP222.

San Francisco is one of the markets where they plan to offer HD locals, but no date has been specified for us yet. We aren't in the first quarter plans they mentioned tonight.

This is how I heard it too. I also gathered that the model 811 and 6000 owners have to send their receivers in to qualify for the swap at $49. The non HD subscribers get the same $49 deal but do not have to sacrifice any equipment.

If this is true then why are the 6000/811 owners being penalized for the upgrade?!protest

I think I will stay with Mpeg2 and my current setup until the Mpeg2 HD goes dark then decide what to do. Maybe FIOS or something interesting will come to my neighborhood and I can go a different direction other than Dish. :wave
