Tech Chat Monday 11/12 - Dead Air?

Things have been so quiet at E* lately (at least on the consumer side), that I'm wondering what they can talk about for an hour on a Tech Chat. I'm not sure Leslie can talk for an hour about remote control tips! Maybe they'll bring back the Seagate guy to apologize for the fiasco with the Free Agent drives. Maybe they'll show us the revolutionary 612 single-TV DVR. Maybe they'll demo how to download overpriced SD content off the internet. Maybe they'll have their annoying "field reporter" watching mobile satellite TV in the Dish Network NASCAR car while careening down the interstate at 200 mph.

I know it is a tech chat but I think they will wet our hd mouths with a statement or two about hd. I doubt they will mention any particular channel but hd in general.

Maybe they are tired of being scooped by Satelliteguys and will actually announce 2-3 new HD channels coming lets say on the 15th. This way they can announce before uplink.

Sheesh, you guys have become the biggest bunch of whiners !

First, I have seen all the chats since the first Charlie Chat and I don't remember anything announced on a Chat that wasn't first leaked to the Internet.

Second, there are lots of recent Tech additions to discuss:

- External USB Hard Drive (post rollout review)
- Ethernet Connection
- Dish Online (note that content and pricing are not within the Engineering Department's influence)
- and maybe 61.5 changes

Programming is never part of the Tech Forum chat - on occasion they have mentioned additions since the last Charlie Chat, just as a Marketing use of the air time.

PS Previously I mentioned that there was no point to adding "HD Channels" that were just upconverted SD content. Now that there is a writers strike, there is even less reason to add "HD Channels" that are just upconverted SD content that is repeats.

Realign E*’s satellite orbit?

Maybe they will discuss their plans to realign E*’s satellite that was pushed out of orbit by D*’s new HD satellite as illustrated in their commercial?

Funny you sat that. Scobuck has just posted that Sealaunch is scheduled to launch a sat this week. I think Diredt will have one ready after this launch and Dish will be after Directs. Not sure of any dates of the two sat companys.
