With the baseball season winding down,

we're proably going to see a couple of teams out of the playoff chase play spoiler and decide the outcome of hotly contested races for the playoffs.

With that in mind,

can you recall examples of bad teams/teams out of a playoff chase playing spoiler?

It can be in ANY sport, BTW.

Example: In 2003, a terrible Arizona team rose up to knock the Vikings out od the playoffs and YKH's team in (If you don't know what YKH means, ask Bill.)

The Bungles spoiled the Browns playoff hopes last year. :(

HD MM,

your Indians are playing the Twins, Red Sox, and White Sox a lot in the next three weeks. The Tribe could have a lot to say about who wins the AL Central and wildcard.

The Tigers too,
They have 1 series yet with Chicago WS and 1 series with TB yet and currently in a series with the TWINS

The Tigers and Indians are exactly the kind of teams you DON'T want to play in a pennant race: they're both out of the pennant races themselves, but both teams are very talented and could sweep you in a heartbeat!

Best ever for me was Syracuse in Backstabber College's last year in the BE.

Diamond Ferri (best name ever BTW) torched the thunder chickens on their way to dropping BC from the BCS berth in the BE.

That turned out REAL bad.

Instead, Pittsburg went through the motions against Utah.

I guarantee you that B.C. or WVU would have shown more heart against the unbeaten Utes.

I couldn't have cared less. WVU got plenty of redemption points in their 2 BCS wins since.

BCU NOT getting the BCS birth was worth it

I have officially jumped off the Brewers' bandwagon because they have absolutely no heart. Last night, the Reds had a three run 9th to beat them, just like they had a three run 9th to beat the Cubs Sunday. So, I guess the Reds are trying to play spoiler.

Someone else is just going to HAVE to step up and knock out the Cubs this postseason.

I think the Marlins will have some say in the NL East. The Mets/Phillies are locked in an ugly battle and the Marlins play the Mets and the Phillies in 6 of the last 11 games. Last year, the Mets had a 1 1/2 game lead with 3 games left and the Marlins took 2 out of 3 to eliminate the Mets.

Should be fun....
