HDTV Simulcast of TBS’ East Coast Feed to Include MLB Postseason Games

-- Multichannel News, 6/26/2007 5:34:00 PM

TBS in HD, an HDTV simulcast of TBS’ East Coast feed, will launch Sunday, Sept. 1.
The new HD feed will feature fare including TBS original series My Boys and The Bill Engvall Show, which are being shot in HD; first-run series like Tyler Perry’s House of Payne; sitcoms including Seinfeld, Friends, Everybody Loves Raymond and Sex and the City; and comedy specials such as World’s Funniest Commercials.
TBS in HD will also showcase HD presentations of the network’s exclusive coverage of Major League Baseball’s Division Series Playoffs and the National League Championship Series.
“With the launch of TBS in HD, we will bring an outstanding lineup of comedy programming to our viewers in a video format that is on the fast track to becoming the industry and consumer standard,” Turner Entertainment Networks president Steve Koonin said in a prepared statement.

This is certainly good news but it also brings up a big question...Will it be an Echostar acquisition? I am hoping the answer is yes and I also hope this will push superstation WGN to do the same!

I hope he meant "Saturday" Sept. 1, or we will be waiting until 2013!!! :D

WGN is all ready in hd.. At least the local feed for Chicago is. D* Carry's this channel in its Local HD package for Chicago, Where Dish doesn't. To me it doesn't matter as I get it OTA anyhow, but For the Millions of viewers that doesn't, I don't know why dish doesn't carry this channel. There is some major gaping holes in the Chicago HD lineup for Echostar and WGNHD is one of them.

ALSO, I hope that TBS isnt as bad as TNT. Remember there owned by the same person!

It will be interesting to see if TBS goes HD on Sep 1st, when it will show up on E*. Regarding WGN broadcasting in HD, WPIX also broadcasts in HD and we see none of that. There is certainly additional HD content (exclusive of HD locals) available that could be added to E*.

I think E* will pick up TBS-HD before the MLB playoffs. Otherwise they will have a lot of upset customers. TBS has the divisional series plus the NLCS.
