I noticed some of the tbs cards come with a remote control? Is there software included that allows you to do everything you can do on a standard STB from the confines of your couch? If so, i just need a machine that has an HDMI out port??

DVB software leaves a lot to be desired. :( A lot of trial and error on your part is required when building the perfect HTPC

I have a tbs6925 & the remote that came with it is infared. there is an infared receiver that has a receiver led on one end (which you have to stick it on something somewhere close to the card cause the cable is only 3 ft long) then plug the phono jack end of the cable into the card. I believe the remote then works as a windows device. I don't see a need to ever use the remote. I don't use the remote because all dvb software has the functionionality of the remote buttons in the interface gui so I just use my computers mouse. for example there are drop-down windows for setting up diseq motors & switches, favorite channels, and specialist menus for the blind scanning, recording scheduling etc. here is a pic of the tbs remote & cable. the remote has the basic stb function buttons like numbers, ffwd, pause, play etc. but it cannot have buttons for all you need the card to do. funny you mention software ... I did not see anything on the tbs cd but maybe the remote drivers are already a part of windows.
