Tailgating DirecTV Setup not working

First the details. On my house, I have a single 18" round dish with dual LNB tied into a Zinwell 3x4 multi-switch, which feeds two DirecTivo units, 4 lines in all.

I picked up a new TERK DirecTV 18" round dish with dual LNB. I have RG59 cable, a tripod, and a satellite finder. I set up the tripod and dish in my front yard, pointing to the correct satellite. I even brought it all up to my roof to align with that dish to verify I was pointing at the right satellite. The satellite finder is screeching away, as it does when it is locked in on the satellite. But, when I plug the cable into the R10 receiver, nothing.

I verified with DirecTV that I should not need a multi-switch for connecting both lines directly from the dish to the receiver. I verified that all cables involved do work (spliced them into my existing cables in the house to the working receiver) and all work fine.

The only other thing I can think of is the LNB. But it, with the dish, came out of an new unopened box. I guess they can be bad from the factory...

Any other ideas?? Please help. Kickoff is only 5 days away!

new dish no signal?

Heres a few things to check.
Make sure the mast pipe you are mounting dish to is level>

Check your elevation need a zip code to get the correct one for mine it is 60554 and elevation is like 37.4 degrees.

Next you may be aimed at a dish network satellite they are really close to directv 101.

Try re aiming the dish, if your meter is pegged you may be getting a satellite, just not directv 101.

The rg 59 should not be a problem as long as it is less the 30 feet. Rg 6 is reccomended for all satellite appliactions, but more than likely it is not the cable.

Satellite alignment

Thanks. I'll double check it, but it should be the right one. Dish Network is at 110 and 119 (228 azimuth, 39 elevation). DirecTV is at 101 (208 azimuth, 46 elevation)

Could an LNB be bad? If it were, would the satellite finder box still indicate a signal? The cable is 25 feet. The tripod was level. I just don't know what else it could be. Next step is to take a cable from the dish on the house directly to the receiver to see if it does need a switch.

On the bright side, there will be plenty of other DirecTV users tailgating too, so I can check with them for proper alignment, but I would like to be able to get a successful test before then.

One easy way to get a sight, is to use your existing dish to get a general idea of where the dish is at. I've never had a problem aiming a dish (the single LNB is a piece of cake)

I normally turn the reciever on where I can hear the annoying beep sound, then move it till I get a good signal (may not be the best way, but, it works for me)

I do go off of the zip code settings first for a general idea of where I'm aiming.

Dodge was right

It was pointing at the wrong satellite. After several other tests, switching out LNB's with the dish on the house, etc, narrowing the problem to either the dish itself or the alignment, I moved the dish around a little and found the right satellite. Based on azimuths and elevations, I would have thought Dish and DirecTV were farther apart. But all is working now. Thanks for the help and advice.
