What is the difference between a system reset by holding in the power button or simply unpluging the receiver? If they are different when is it appropriate to use either one?

Thanks

It's kinda like the difference between powering off your computer and just doing a restart. One resets just the software the other resets the hardware also.

Soft reset may not clear all the cobwebs out of memory.

Sometimes after a software upgrade your receiver may need a power plug reboot, the software reboots just won't hack it.

I usually do a power plug reboot every two weeks. I have had zero problems for over a year.

also if there are grounding issues a hard reset would clear out the static electricity buildup that a front panel reset wouldn't
