Syndication question

That's not what is called syndication. Syndication is when they bundle up a set of seasons and sell them to independent stations for rebroadcast.

Cable networks tend to show reruns of shows several times during the week of original broadcast. They also will have marathons during the off season and will usually show the previous series for a few weeks before the new series starts.

Broadcast is more complicated. They usually retain the rights for the entire season. These days they will syndicate the rights for the previous season to a cable network after the DVD release of that season. Current season shows are generally rerun once or twice on the original network, but there is no real way of telling when. They are doing some reruns now in Dec/Jan, but since February is a "sweeps" month where they tally ratings, the shows will all be new. Then you can expect reruns through March and April and the final new shows in late April/Early May.
