Symphonic & Sylvania remote codes don't work

We previously had a cheap Sylvania TV in a second bedroom and even when the installer tried to find a usable code he was unable to.

We got a deal on a larger Symphonic TV on sale at Wal-mart and I've been unable to find a code for that one that works.

I know there were thousands of the Symphonics sold at nationwide Wal-marts on the day after thanksgiving. Has anyone had better luck?

Yes, there is a code that will work for that TV (kind of). Once you have the remote programmed for the TV, just never press the Mute button. It will freeze the TV up, and put numbers in each corner, requiring you to turn the TV off by the Power button on the front of the TV to reset it.

Do a code search:

• Make sure that the TV is on.
• Press the clear TV button at the top of the remote and hold it down until all of the lights on the remote light up.
• Press the Power button.
• Press the channel up button repeatedly until the TV turns off. (This may take a long time to go through each code)
• Press the "#" button to store the code.
