SWM question

Install update

Thanks to everyone that responded to my question. Based on the comments I called customer service the day before and requested a SWM dish. They said they could only make a note of it. The next day the installer said they would install a SWM dish (without my asking or commenting). I am not sure if my calling ahead made a difference.
The installer said the work order did not call for a SWM dish but they made the change and before leaving I authorized the change to a SWM dish to Direct on the phone.

glad it worked out for you. you'll be happier with less cabling into the house.

Around here, what you say would get your ass fired. SO, again SWM is not to be installed on a mover's connect, and is not that way until as you say the 14th. and even so I doubt the change around here will be that quick.

BUMP...

sorry i had to clear it up. if DAVE says i would get fired if i do a SWiM on a mover's connect.

got a work order for a Former Install to use a SWM kaku SWM 3.

thought wasnt allowed for a movers connect.

What's amazing to me, is that even the post you referenced I mention the fact the mover's connect won't change until the 14th. Today being the 14th seems to make sense on the change, but if it makes you happy thinking you are winning the fine

Me=dumbass

You win.

regardless, you can still do a swm like mentioned before... depending where you are at and if the in house TL would care if you did it or not.... mine didnt care and if it was simpler, install a SWM like stated above from another person.

your office must be kissing ass following memos down to the period.

I moved in August and called ahead and had them put SWM on work order. The installer installed SWM for me the mover (he didnt get fired and I called Directv to say how happy I was with the installer). Probably a moot point now that its after the 14th but all you have to do is ask as a mover and they will install it. I think there was a point that they would not do this but Directv takes care of folks like me anytime I ask. BTW, been a customer for 11 years so I think that helps.

honestly, phone lines are for PPVs (which is quick and just as easy doing it ONLINE!) and sending a signal to the reciever and back for a test.

im like are we PHONE companies or are we SAT installers? screw this let QWEST put in the phone lines or whoever the phone provider is in your areas. majority of the cust i have are on cell phone bc its cheaper than having a reg phone AND a cell phone.

i got a phone in ONE of my recievers and the other two dont have it and they said i could get into BIG trouble for not having phone lines in the other two... i get software on all three at the same time, its them that wanna keep track of the reciever and making sure its in the SAME number (meaning not having a reciever in one house and then another reciever in another house with a different number)

to me its not about sending a test signal to the reciever bc cables can do software through cable and not phone lines. its seeing and making sure those recievers are installed in ONE house rather than multiples of houses.

I wish this 14th date made a difference. It's the 20th tomorrow and I have had 5 KA/KU systems not one set up for SWM. I have tried to get all of them modified to SWM just because, no go on any of them.
