If I was to switch from Directv to Dish is there a chance they would buy out the remaining 8 months of contract?

But I can say your contract can't be that expensive to buy out of... I mean what 15$ or so a month left? You will end up saving that plus some switching to dish anyways with the first year discount.

Afraid not. Dish has no program in place to do anything of the sort. I know Direct has, or had, such a program, but Dish doesn't. If you want to come to Dish, you've gotta square away your former company yourself.
That said, I have dealt with people furious that some sleazy retailer out there made them that promise, and then left them high and dry. "Why hasn't Dish taken care of my DirecTV early termination fee yet?", I've been asked, and the answer is, we simply do not do that. Not all retailers are bad, most are good. There are some sleazy ones out there, though.
