Well, I'm thinkin' that the Feb 1 price increase is coming just in time.Speaking of DISH and TIVO arn't we supposed to be hearing the En Banc ruling sometime soon?
I would feel better about this "justice" if the MS patents weren't so obvious. These are even more trivial than Tivo patents.
Don't forget TiVo also sued Verizon (FiOS) at the same time it filed against AT&T. So, will TiVO's extremely burdensome legal expenses ever end? Only if they get a favorable ruling regarding Dish/Echostar.
And, yes, the En banc ruling due around March, I think.
Picking a fight with Microsoft and AT&T is a particularly dumb thing to do. I hope they get their ass handed to them on a silver platter with a side of fries.
The difference here between MS and Dish is that MS and TiVo will probably reach a cross licensing agreement on the patents.
Wouldn't bet on that. MS has started out by suing. When MS has done this before it is due to them being really PO'd and the company has usually done everything to hurt the other side in their property rights. MS doesn't take kindly to anyone step on what they feel is there business. MS has the upper hand & they will enforce that. When MS goes after someone they don't usually stop till the blood has been drawn.
Ditto. Microsoft has alot in the pipeline with it's MediaRoom interface (which already powers some cable STB's). That same interface is supposed to come to the Xbox to power it's upcoming IPTV initiative, all while being compatible with Media Center content.
One has to realize that Microsoft probably has the most software based technology patents in the world.
Yep like I said at the start of the thread you don't pull on superman's cape. I really feel that they have bite off way more than they can chew.
But at the end of that song "Poor LeRoy looked like a jigsaw puzzle with a couple of pieces gone" and "You don't mess around with Slim"
Gotta watch your analogy or you'll find yourself rooting for TIVO
