I have been saying for several seasons now,
Search for idols ALL THE TIME,
Even if/after you find idol(s).
Don't tell anyone.
at your first tribal,
after the votes are cast
Announce, 'I have an Idol and I am playing it'.
Continue, 'Any idol I have will be played at my next tribal'.
And, 'not out of fear of being voted, but to keep the idols in circulation',

Going forward,
Continue searchibg and playing idols in this fashion.
Tribemates will second guess and become wary of split vote tactics (wasting votes).

It's when you are feeling 'safe' you are voted off with idol in pocket.

Get an idol,
Play an idol.
'Feeling safe be damned'
Period.
