I guy in my office has an old SuperDish but no LNBs for it. I told him I would help him hook it up to my old 811 so he could get the local OTA HD stations (my understanding is the 811 must see a satellite to be able to tune in the OTA stations). What type of LNB would he need? I'm guessing he would only need to see 110 or 119, or both but not the third sat (118?). Thanks in advance for your help.

Problem is if he sent the LNBs back for the superdish, he probaly doesn't have the brackets to attach a new LNB to his dish.

Cheapest option is gong to be an 18" DirecTV dish with Directv LNB pointed at 119° Should be able to pick one of those up at a yard sale/ flea market / E-bay for around $10.

Have Fun.

im sure if you shot a tech a $20 he'd give you a new 500 dish and an "I" bracket, and maybe an old duel he has laying around. were everywhere... just flag one down, money make us happy!

Old single lnb DirecTV dishes litter thrift stores. They can be had for $5 or less. There are a lot of abandoned ones on a lot of houses. Just ask a homeowner if you could take it down.
