Sunday Ticket, Need a Subscription?

I've been away from Directv for awhile, but I'm thinking about getting ST. : Is a subscription to Total Choice required? I thought that ST was the exception to the rule in that a programming package was not required?

it used to be, not now you need to have Total Choice. I have heard that you could be grandfathered in if you already doing it, but not new.
