Stupid Surround Sound Question

Okay, this is a stupid question but I cannot get my surround sound tonight to work the football game; tried for an hour now. Then I made the stupid mistake of pressing some buttons. Now, both the PS3 and TV, do not play sound through any speakers .... Ugggghhhh!!!

Any ideas what buttons I press to get the sound back? I have the Onkyo 580 system connected to DirectTV and PS3 via optical cables.

Btw, I am on the correct input so I at least know that's not the issue.

May ave solved it . . . My 3X1 Optical Audio Toslink Bi-Directional Manual Switch no longer has green lights, so I am assuming it died :-( need to try cables manually
