I'd like to give my opinion on the major studios going purple in 2008.......Look for Disney and Lionsgate to go purple in January/Febuary. There are tons of buzz in hollywood about this move.....it's pretty much been hush hush from the 2 studios but all will be answered soon. Look for CES to be the start

Lionsgate sure, I can see it, but then agian, they need to focus on just releasing better consistency and in general releasing a few more titles.

Disney, heck I don't know. I lean towards doubting it at this point.

I would also throw in the Weinstein studio. But then again, they haven't released anything on HD DVD for some time.

What's this "buzz"? Are there any quotes by studio execs reported in the media? Where is this coming from? To me, it sounds about as substantiated (if not less) than Warner going red or blue exclusive. (As much as I'd like to see everyone format neutral.)

With that said it seems more likely a smaller studio like Lion's Gate or New Line would go purple, except for the fact that neither of those, as alluded by SatinKzo, seem terribly dedicated to any HD format. I would venture to opine that smaller studios are more in a position of waiting to see how the format war plays out before going full bore either way.

NewLine is not blue exclusive. HD DVD titles are not being released until after theatrical showings are finished in EU and other countries due to no region coding. Universal does not care and releases anyways. I had Mr. Bean's Holiday not too long after the time it hit theaters in the US.

Im sick of hearing about it. Id suggest everyone go neutral and just stop fighting.
You want to start??? lol, honestly vurb, you start most of the arguments around here on the subject of BD vs HD-DVD, so as they say, put up or shut up

I do not know Vurbano personally as he's in Va and I'm in NY but after reading all these posts for months I have to say that he really makes me laugh how he gets under you guy's skin.
As for the age difference remarks, maybe he's a little bit of an ageist. I think he's about my age (50s) and I understand somewhat he is saying in his own inimitable way.

I personally have no intentions of buying BD unless, if and ONLY if, it is the only choice left. But I cannot see sinking any money into an expensive BD machine that does not have full hardware capability to do of all the wonderful stuff these clowns have promised. (As an IBM mainframe systems guy,I know what it means to be pissed about having neat software that MUST have a hardware upgrade ($$$) or it doesn't work or sometimes even a new mainframe ($$$$$$$)).

Duals are too much money and has features missing from each format.

All studios, both formats, THEN let's rumble.

Have you considered the LG Dual format player?

I don't know about the internal PC drive, but I wouldn't touch the 200 with a 10 ft. pole. It has not been well received by owners and critics. LG as a company has not been very forth coming in updates either, unlike Sony, Panasonic, and Toshiba. Haven't read the review of the Samsung 5000 yet, but I got 2 players for less.
