Streaming video: Netflix vs Amazon vs roku blockbuster vs......

What are the differences in these services today? And do any of them provide any free video?

A relative of mine is asking about them, and I've chosen not to go that route (prefer BDs) so I don't keep up to date.

Well when you say free, do you mean totally free or free after subscription (vs a per use fee)? Netflix has a monthly fee but offers unlimited streaming of most content after that (there are some items that are disc only). Amazon is "free" if you have Amazon prime, but I've found their selection quite limited. I have no experience with Blockbuster so don't know there.

He's decided to go with Netflix. I think he was under the impression that once he "bought a box" there were no further fees.
