Stop button

My uncle got a Hopper 3 with the smaller 50 remote. He says that there is no stop button and so he needs to fast forward all the way to the end of a show in order to be prompted to delete it. Is that true?

Its true that there is no stop button anymore on the newer 50/52 remotes. The way to do stop now is to press select on the remote, which brings up the channel banners, then select the "stop" icon that appears across the bottom of the screen. (or if you prefer, you can get an older 40 remote and use it instead)

Or the 'Back' button brings up some options including Stop while watching a recording. I use Back because in MV pressing Select will full screen the quad.

The one thing annoying about TiVo remotes (no stop button), and now Dish emulates that. At least with TiVo a single and even intuitive click of the LEFT arrow button STOPS play back and brings options to delete or save. What was described by DWS44 sounds far more cumbersome than with TiVo and far less intuitive.

Very true. Easily solved by using an older 40 remote, or better yet, investing in a Harmony Remote!

Yeah, ironic, isn't it? Can Echo (Alexa) be commaned to STOP playback? if so, another option.
