Comcast's bid for Time Warner Cable drew new fire in the U.S. Senate on Wednesday, this time nearly drowning out an expected debate about the future of DIRECTV and Dish Network.

The Senate Judiciary Committee, which was supposed to examine whether to extend a law that allows the direct satellite services to operate, instead heard Minnesota Democratic Sen. Al Franken step up his denunciation of Comcast's deal for Time Warner.

Politicians could get busy as cable blackouts increase
Apr 11 2014, 08:25 ET

Though Dish Network (DISH) resolved its differences with 25 Hearst-owned TV stations earlier this week after they went dark for around 14 hours amid a retransmission contract dispute, the mini-battle could be the tipping point that leads to a major industry change.
Media analysts forecast that politicians in Washington may take notice as more negotiation stalemates in the industry lead to cable/satellite blackouts. A little noise from D.C. on the issue could tip the scales in the favor of the pay-TV industry (DTV, CMCSA, CHTR, TWC, CVC). http://seekingalpha.com/news/167076...le-blackouts-increase?isDirectRoadblock=false

Hey I liked Jesse.

Franken on the other hand.....almost as bad as Wellstone! Whenever that guy shows up on TV I almost would rather say I was from Wisconsin than Minnesota. :biggrin
