Statement from DIRECTV President and CEO Mitch Stern Concerning FCC Vote Against Dual Must Carry and Multicast Must Carry
El Segundo, CA Feb 10, 2005 DIRECTV, Inc. President and CEO Mitch Stern issued the following statement concerning the vote today by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) not to impose dual must carry and multicast must carry on multichannel video programming distributors.
"DIRECTV is pleased the FCC has reaffirmed the decision it made four years ago to deny a dual must carry mandate as unconstitutional and to define our digital must carry obligation as one signal for every broadcaster. This is the right legal decision, but more importantly, it is the right policy decision as millions of American consumers will benefit from a diverse array of programming choices."
