huh? i don't quite follow the exchange here,,,, but the reason cars looks so good is the same reason most if not all digitally created animation looks that good and is the same reason many tv stores will be running loops of this material. There are no lenses, no anolog to digital conversion in the camera, it is pure digital signal in the computer straight to the master. It doesn't get any better than that!

Just switched to D from E. The difference in PQ on Starz is amazing. It looks almost as good as an HDDVD or Blu-ray. On E the bitrate is so slow it looked like uprezed HD. Really noticed the difference on the Di Vinci Code tonight.
I am glad i made the change.

I have both E* and D* (just got DirecTV a few days ago, actually) and have noticed the same thing with Starz HD; on Dish, their channel is sharing space on a transponder with five other HD channels, so the bandwidth is spread between all of them, and it makes the PQ look really washed out at times. D*, on the other had, looks like a C-band "big dish" master feed - no noticeable loss or compression at all. It's amazing and I sure hope it stays this way!

Have you checked out the Food Network since it went HD last wednesday? Totally awesome HD, it's the future of HD on D* as far as I'm concerned and it's what pulled me away from 22 years with C-band. Check it out sometime. :)

I'm currently waiting for my DTV install. Do all the channels in the Starz multiplex look good or is it just the main one? Can't wait till 10/24 so I can see for myself.

I just watched Stranger Than Fiction on Starz tonight, and it looked practically the same as HD DVD or Blu-ray. I've never before seen broadcast HD that looked so good.
