I have no interest in a subscription to any DirecTV satellite service but wondered of their new AM21 dual-ATSC STB Tuner can work as a standalone unit without a DTV receiver or DVR?

I just want to connect my rooftop antenna to it and be able to input two signals into my digital television set for local DTV PIP.

Any one know about this?

Thanks.

Get one of the government-issued coupons and use it to purchase a cheap converter box. I doubt that PIP would look much different in HD.

I would need two separate tuners to do PIP so am looking for two tuners in one box.

The AM21 works exclusively with the HR21 and R22 DVRs. I believe the going rate is about $140 each for standalone tuners.
