Sprint fires up LTE in nearly 2 dozen new cities

Sprint today announced that it's turned on high-speed LTE data in 22 new locations. They are:

• Baton Rouge, La.
• Centralia, Wash.
• Clarksville, Tenn.
• Corsicana, Texas
• Dalton, Ga.
• Dunn, N.C.
• Fond du Lac, Wis.
• Gainesville, Fla.
• Henderson, N.C.
• Kingsport, Tenn.
• Lansing/East Lansing, Mich.
• Longview, Wash.
• Miami
• Napa, Calif.
• New Orleans
• Palatka, Fla.
• Raleigh, N.C.
• Sebring, Fla.
• St. Cloud, Minn.
• St. Joseph/Benton Harbor, Mich.
• Tampa, Fla.
• Warsaw, Ind.

That gives Sprint a total of 110 LTE locations. The company also listed a number of cities that will receive LTE service in the coming months in Texas, Wisconsin, Washington and Michigan.

Agreed. They've had LTE in Washington DC for several months, but I'll be darned if I can get LTE to light-up in more than 25% of the city of 68.3 sq. miles. In fact, In fact, I there's still no LTE on Capitol Hill...up and down Independece and Constitution Avenues. Sprint appears to be following the FiOS deployment model...install a point-of-presense, issue and press release announcing LTE availabiliy, and spend the next 6-7 building out the infrastructure until fully deployed in the area.

I'm talking about their 1x and 3G service. We had to change to Verizon when we moved here because of that.

Interesting that Sprint plans to fire up the towns surrounding the Detroit area, but not the Detroit area itself.

Hopefully they will get it activated in my area soon. It's active on one tower from me and the tower down the street is LTE ready, just need to fire it up.
